Programs

AAUW-Concord organizes branch programs that support the work of various national funds, collectively called AAUW Funds.  AAUW Funds include the Educational Opportunites Fund, the Legal Advocacy Fund, the Public Policy Fund, the Eleanor Roosevelt Fund, and the Leadership Programs Fund.  Typically, the Concord Branch will hold programs that bring awareness to a current issue and serve as fundraisers.

Check out our September 2015 Newsletter to see what we accomplished this summer.

Here is a list of all the wonderful programs we currently have planned for 2015-2016

AAUW Fund

2012 Education Foundation Luncheon. Branch President, Co-VP EF/CEF, Guest Speaker, Co-VP EF/CEF (left to right).

Supporting education is a cornerstone of AAUW’s mission.

The AAUW Funds Luncheon takes places each February.  The lunch is followed by a scholarly presentation from an Funds Fellow or other  recipient who has received a scholarship from AAUW, the national organization.  This luncheon is our branch’s key means for raising scholarship money for the national EF and Concord Education Foundation (CEF), where the Concord Branch gives $1000 scholarships for women transferring from local community colleges to four-year universities.  The Funds/CEF luncheons are open to the pubic and serve as a great opportunity to meet AAUW members and learn something new.  If you want to be involved in organizing this program, please consider joining AAUW-Concord.

The Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF) Program vary from year to year, but typically the LAF Committee of the Concord, CA branch organizes an event that informs and educates the general public about discrimination cases that are being tried in court. By attending these events the public can learn about a particular case and gain a broader understanding of the U.S. legal system. The LAF event also serves as a key means for raising funds for the national LAF. AAUW-Concord LAF events are open to the pubic and serve as a great opportunity to meet AAUW members and learn something new. If you want to be involved in organizing this program, please consider joining AAUW-Concord.
