The members of AAUW-Concord fund the following scholarships through generous member donations and by partnering with philanthropic organizations.  AAUW-Concord holds three different fund raisers throughout the year in order to fund these scholarships.  In February, we have a lunch followed by a speaker, usually a doctoral candidate who has received an Education Foundation scholarship in the recent past.  During football season, a number of our members are staffing a concession stand at the San Francisco 49ers’ home games.  Through a share of the profits and tips, we’re able to provide a number of scholarships.  Other innovate fund raisers include fashion shows at local restaurants which are a fun and relaxing way to fund scholarships that support women in their academic endeavors.

Fundraising for Scholarships

    • 49er’s Games: Working the concession stands at the 49er’s home football games has been a long-standing, popular fundraising activity.  If you like trekking into SF and you enjoy pouring beer, sign up for one or more games with Michelle.  You don’t need to be a member to work the booth.   E-mail us to sign up and take pride in knowing that you will be helping to send girls to AAUW-CA Tech Trek.
    • EF/CEF Potluck Luncheon: Fundraising for scholarships also occurs through our EF/CEF lunch that we co-organize with the AAUW-Clayton Branch.  Each lunch is followed by a presentation by a top scholar in her field who has recently received an AAUW EF Scholarship.  Lunch and presentations are always held in February, so check our calendar in January to reserve you seat for this popular event.  Join us to help elevate the importance of women doing scholarly work!  This EF/CEF event is open to the public.  Donations can be made to CEF or EF or both.
